Wicked Sick!

Two Saturdays ago you could find me on Johnny D’s stage, as advertised…and then if you stuck around (like new friends Ginger and Al, thank you guys for your spontaneous entouragism), you could watch me open up the Boston Hardrock Cafe’s evening like a confused dandelion, not quite sure how she ended up in the Cool Kid Mountains, but doin’ her thing all the same! Not much later there was a costume change and I mounted the stage with the Jackson Wetherbee Band as the cutsie back-up singer:

(They’re really good.)

Johnny D’s went well, but I admit that I played the new song and got a tad emotional. The CSN House Band was killer, however, and did great justice to the evening.

In short, it’s not every day a little girl from the West Coast gets to play two of Boston’s finest venues back to back!

Keepin’ on, havin’ a wicked good time~

At Johnny D’s

Some of you have gotten the memo already, but on May 5 between 4 and 7pm, I am going to be a chick singer. On May 5, Johnny D’s house band is going to learn 21 songs by 7 different chicks, and I will be among them boasting 3 originals. It will be my honour to play on such a renowned stage with such fine professionals on a Saturday evening. Here is the facebook thingy:

Showin’ Off

Cory Vallejo (recording engineer), Rick Westrick (drums) and Brian Flick (bass) all allowed themselves to be pulled together by me and my irresponsible spontaneity (with the caveat that I wouldn’t be as spontaneous next time) to produce things like this:

The Cookin’ Tune

They are definitely world class. If you like what you hear give me a jangle and I can hook you up with any of these fine people. And if you like what you hear, be on the lookout for updates having more to do with Album the 2nd…

It’s Always Washington

It’s good to be home.

So you’re looking at your calendar, and you think yay it’s the weekend…! And then you despair because you realize you have nothing planned. This is where i come in…

NECTAR WINE BAR!

I’ll be playing there on Stevens and Main this Saturday from 6:30-9:30pm. There may be guest musicians, it may be just me, but either way it’s a darn good excuse to come taste wine and enjoy what i’ve been told is quality music.

On a separate note, i spent my first two days in town recording 6 songs for Album the 2nd–which event took place at Cory Vallejo’s studio in 5-mile. More details on this and other great artists…

Hope to see you Saturday~

Art too stodgy for you? Can’t stand wine and crackers? Don’t get the nuances and don’t care? I bet you’d rather have a big juicy burger and beer from a tap if you’re going to look at some paintings. Which is why I’ve put mine in Stars on Hingham Harbor, just for you because I know you like burgers as much as I do when you’re appreciating art. Six whimsified images from some of my old sketches of ways to abscond dissatisfactory circumstances. The series is entitled “Great Escapes.” I think I’ll ask a good photographer to come in and make some prints for me so I can make these available as greeting cards…

Test Post

Here’s to the first Blahg of the new website design~

And Welcome. Thank you for being a part of my life experience~

And Merry Christmas! (I know not everyone celebrates Christmas, but I do – my intention is not to offend, but to be true. Thanks for understanding~)

I’m not yet sure what to do with the old website – Doug Erickson did such a bang-up job on it (for you youngsters: Bang-up means Awesome) – but when I find out I will have that knowledge to share with anyone who wants to know. As to the old Blahg, I’m seeking a way to transfer it here.

BREAKING NEWS:

I’ll be home in Spokane for a good 8 days in February – from the 17th to the 25th, to be exact. I am in the process of booking some musical gigs, and if you’re reading this from Spokane and feel entitled to a little quality time, it’s very likely that I feel the same way about you. If I don’t call you first, you call me.

Part of the purpose of this trip is to begin preliminaries on the Second Album, some of whose songs you can find demoed on this site under “things to listen to” (my writer friends will please forgive the intentional poor grammar): Cookin’ Tune and Flash in the Pan. I’m gonna try to rope in at least a rhythm section for this new album which will feature a much swingier lineup than last album’s playlist, so I hope you dig.

I’ll be making a second trip to Spokane in June to rock the JACC hot-dog-and-beer style, so stay tuned for updates on that! There may also be a swing dance during that time accompanied by Olivia Brownlee and the Swing Set! Absolutely unmissable, even for double-lefties.

Give this webbie a browse and let me know what oughter be changed about it. And until we meet again, glad tidings~
